At Hayward Area Memorial Hospital and Water’s Edge we take pride in delivering excellent service. STAR Standards show how we define excellence, safe practices and quality care. These standards have been developed by our peers and are a way of working to achieve our mission, vision and values. Even though we all have different roles at Hayward Area Memorial Hospital and Water’s Edge, we all have customers. All customers—patients, residents, tenants, community members and fellow co-workers are the drivers of our job.
The STAR Standards have been divided into four main categories, and describe what we must do to meet the needs of all customers. The categories can be easily recalled by using the acronym STAR. These standards are required behaviors by all staff, are a part of our annual review, and service culture. These standards are an integral part of our job and every encounter with the customer.
