Laura has been employed with Hayward Area Memorial Hospital since 2006. She started her healthcare career as a CNA on the medical surgical floor and earned her Associates Degree as an RN in 2011. She has had the opportunity to work in many different departments in the hospital as an RN, including the OB and the Emergency Department, as well as the medical surgical floor. In 2014-2015 she worked as a case manager in family care for the State of Wisconsin and is currently a Quality Analyst at HAMH. Laura’s position in quality involves working in the background to be sure that each patient is getting the best care possible. She makes sure that that all proper documentation about each patient is received from both the doctors and nurses.
Laura continues to work towards earning her Bachelors Degree in nursing and is enrolled at the University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh, with a graduation date of August 2017. She also continues to educate herself through online webinars, attending conferences and different educational classes that become available. There is always something new to learn in healthcare.
Through Laura’s experience in the nursing field she has discovered that there are many different opportunities available as a nurse. You can provide care at the bedside, you can travel and provide in-home care, work in administration, work for attorneys, the possibilities are endless.
Laura is a lifelong resident of Hayward, she grew up on the Chippewa Flowage and loves to spend her free time on the Flowage with her husband Jay, her son Peyton and her two golden retrievers. They enjoy the area year round, boating, snowmobiling and camping.
