Logging on Hospital Trails

Additional Logging to Occur on the Hospital Trails

Sections of the Buckthorn Loop on the Hospital Trails, located on the Hayward Area Memorial Hospital (HAMH) campus may be closed at times during a scheduled timber harvest. A moderate amount of surface still needs to completed on this section of trail. While the majority of trails remain open for use, you may run into small sections of temporary closures during the next month.

Logging will occur to remove diseased and dead trees that are along all of the trails. This round of trail work will start on the Hilly Loop. The trail will be signed and blocked while the work is occurring and reopen when complete. Loggers will then move to a new section of trail to complete the same process. It is anticipated that each section of trail will only be closed for one to two days. All trail users are asked to refrain from using the blocked trails.

“We would again like to thank the community for their cooperation during the temporary trail closures,” said David Wegener, Facilities and Grounds Manager of Hayward Area Memorial Hospital. “This work is necessary to ensure safety and have the trails ready for the ski season.”

Thank you for your patience.
