Purple Tube Project Helps Those Living with Alzheimer’s Disease & Dementia

On November 13, 2019, several local agencies will be kicking off the Purple Tube Project of Sawyer County. The kick-off held at the Senior Resource Center located at 15856 E 5th Street, Hayward, from 10:00 AM to 1:00 PM.

The Purple Tube Project originated in Rock County, Wisconsin, and was implemented to provide first responders and emergency personnel with important information about the medical and behavioral needs of individuals living with Alzheimer’s disease and dementia.

The tube is placed in the home, providing easy and quick access to specific information about the individual on how to best care for their needs in the event of an emergency. The information will also be shared with Sawyer County Emergency Dispatch so they have access to the information if needed.

The following documents will be needed for the tube: a current medication list, Power of Attorney documentation, a current photo of the individual living with Dementia and physician contact information. Additional paperwork and information will be provided with the tube.

The following agencies are working together to distribute tubes throughout the county: LCO Elder Services, Aging and Disability Resource Center of the North, LCO Health Care Center, Sawyer County Sheriff’s Department, City of Hayward Police, Inclusa, LCO Tribal Police, Senior Resource Center, Hayward Area Memorial Hospital and Water’s Edge.

If you have questions or would like more information about the Purple Tube Project please contact Paige Reynolds, Water’s Edge Senior Living at 715-934-4848.
